Before you book

Our recovery suite is designed to be enjoyed safely. Please read the guidelines below before your session — they apply to both the infrared sauna and ice bath.

! DO NOT USE IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING APPLY

SAUNA & ICE BATH — DO NOT USE IF YOU:

  • Are pregnant
  • Have a current fever or active infection
  • Have consumed alcohol or recreational drugs
  • Are a haemophiliac or prone to bleeding
  • Have a serious heart condition or uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • Have insensitivity to heat or cold

ICE BATH ONLY — DO NOT USE IF YOU:

  • Are under 18 years of age (ice bath is not suitable for children)
CONSULT YOUR GP FIRST IF YOU HAVE…
  • Cardiovascular disease, low or high blood pressure, or circulatory conditions
  • Diabetes or diabetic neuropathy
  • A neurological condition affecting your ability to sweat or regulate temperature (e.g. Parkinson's, MS)
  • Reduced mobility, sensory impairment, or cognitive difficulties
  • A recent joint injury or acute inflammation
  • Metal implants, pins, or rods (sauna is generally safe but please check with your doctor)
  • A prescription for blood thinners, diuretics, beta-blockers, antihistamines, or other medications that affect heart rate, circulation, or heat response
INFRARED SAUNA — SESSION GUIDELINES
  • Drink at least 250ml of water before your session and rehydrate well afterwards
  • Sessions run at 38–58°C — if new to infrared, start at a lower temperature and build up gradually
  • Exit the sauna immediately if you feel nauseous, dizzy, faint, or unwell
  • Do not sleep inside the sauna
  • Older adults should use at a lower temperature and limit sessions to 15 minutes
  • Wear a towel or appropriate swimwear — avoid heavy lotions or oils before your session
  • Children under 18 should not use the sauna unsupervised; the core temperature of children rises much faster than adults
ICE BATH — SESSION GUIDELINES
  • Water temperature ranges from 0–10°C — enter slowly and carefully, never jump in
  • Limit immersion to a maximum of 5 minutes, or less if temperatures are at or near 0°C
  • Do not submerge your head
  • Exit by sitting on the back deck first — your limbs may feel stiff, take your time
  • Warm up gradually after your session — avoid returning to the sauna for at least 30 minutes
  • Do not use the ice bath alone if you are new to cold water immersion
  • If you experience intense shivering, numbness, confusion, or loss of coordination, seek help immediately — these are signs of hypothermia
  • Wear appropriate swimwear at all times
CONTRAST THERAPY (SAUNA + ICE BATH)
  • If using both in a single session, always allow your body to stabilise between transitions
  • Do not rush from extreme heat straight into cold water — the cardiovascular shift can be intense
  • After the ice bath, warm up naturally before re-entering the sauna — allow at least twice the duration of your cold immersion
  • Stay well hydrated throughout — contrast therapy increases fluid loss
  • If this is your first time doing contrast therapy, go slowly and listen to your body
